Ady Scholarship

Bringing Together Professionals

The Bob Ady Scholarship is awarded to economic development professionals from the Midwest who are newer to the profession, with the goal of promoting the field to the next generation of economic development professionals. The scholarship is named in honor of Bob Ady, Janet’s father, who spent his entire career working in the site selection field. His efforts helped turn the fledgling field of site selection into a professional occupation. As a capstone to his career, he founded the Site Selectors Guild. It was a life-long dream of his to bring together professionals in this field and provide a common voice as an industry.

When people who knew Bob describe him, they frequently mention his willingness to take the time to engage with any economic developer. He genuinely loved meeting new people and providing whatever expertise he could. He also mentored a generation of site selectors who have gone on to lead their own successful practices. His influence lives on in many ways, and this scholarship is just one more.

Since 2012, the Ady family, in conjunction with the Mid-America Economic Development Council, has provided scholarships to over 60 economic development professionals. The scholarships allow up-and-coming economic development professionals to attend Mid-America EDC conferences, meet site selectors, and gain networking exposre to peers across the Midwest. If you’re interest in apply or know someone who may be a good candidate- whether or not they are located in the Mid-American EDC region- follow us on LinkedIn to be in the know once the applications available.
